“COME SUMMER I WILL DO MUCH MORE DETAILED AND EXTENSIVE TESTING, HOWEVER, FROM THIS EXPERIENCE I HAVE NO DOUBT THEY WILL PERFORM VERY WELL INDEED. BUT DON’T WAIT FOR MY NEXT REPORT…GET SOME LOVE JUGS SENT TO YOU AND BEGIN ENJOYING THE BENEFITS RIGHT AWAY.” – HEAVY DUTY MAGAZINE, AUSTRALIA

Twin Cam engines run very hot. That is a fact. And the more modifications they have, the hotter they run. Perhaps it doesn’t worry those who live and ride in cool climates but in both temperate and tropical regions it can be a big problem, greatly reducing riding enjoyment. Well, I’ve run various cooling devices on Ugly Betty, my 2012 Road Glide, so when a reader wrote in asking about them I thought I would look into it.

Love Jugs is the name the developers of this system have given to their twin fan cooling system about which a section of their website (https://love-jugs.com/need-to-know/) says, “Love Jugs uses the most powerful, and by far the most effective, high performance, waterproof fans available. At 252 CMFs, our fans put out over twice the air as the nearest ‘competitor’. Don’t be fooled by any comments of overkill, your hot beast needs every bit of the velocity we provide. But it’s not only how much air, but where the air flow is directed. Our engineers have meticulously located the unit to sit at precisely the optimum placement to concentrate Love Jugs power on the hottest area of your engine’s cylinders. Only a two fan system can properly direct the air to the critical heat producing areas; and only our system has the power to do the job totally”. Now the site goes into much more detail about this product, and all of it is well worth reading. The install was ably carried out by Adelaide Harley Heaven tech Caz, however, it is not something too difficult for anyone handy with a spanner to perform at home.

Now our area is currently experiencing a cold snap where daily temperatures have been hovering around a maximum of 16 degrees Celsius. Rather than wait for summer and its blazing hot weather to hit, I thought I would set up a situation whereby I could gain at least some idea of the effectiveness of these fans. To this end I started Ugly in my garage and let her idle for some considerable time until the front head temperature, as monitored on my Power Vision display, reached 197 degrees Celsius at which time I could feel a great deal of heat radiating from my engine.

Come summer I will do much more detailed and extensive testing, however, from this experience I have no doubt they will perform very well indeed. But don’t wait for my next report, if you live in an area of the country where it’s hot right now, then go for it, get some Love Jugs sent to you and begin enjoying the benefits right away. HD
